Battery Storage

80 MWh Capacity

Storing energy, securing tomorrow.

Coso Batteries 2 is an 80 MWh (4 hours) standalone battery energy storage asset, located close to Coso, the geothermal asset in California. Fully developed in-house, the asset utilizes lithium-ion technology.

The Impact of Coso BESS

Empowering clean energy and community benefits

Battery energy storage systems (BESS) enhance grid stability and accelerate the shift to clean energy by storing surplus electricity generated during times of peak renewable production. This allows clean power to be delivered later when it’s needed, maximizing the value and impact of renewable energy assets. Batteries also help balance the grid through different use cases.

Coso Batteries was entirely developed in-house, creating local jobs during both construction and operations, and generating valuable tax revenue for local governments. By reducing dependence on traditional energy plants, energy storage systems help to avoid emissions, supporting healthier communities and a more sustainable future.
